Austrian Schnitzel (with Chicken) that Will Melt Hearts

A classic Austrian dish featuring breaded and fried chicken cutlets.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Flatten the chicken fillets using a meat mallet.
  2. Season the flour with salt.
  3. Dredge each chicken fillet in flour, shaking off excess.
  4. Dip the floured chicken in beaten eggs.
  5. Coat the chicken with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the chicken until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs to the breadcrumbs.
  • Serve with a side salad or potatoes.
