- 1 lb chicken fillet
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, chopped
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken with olive oil, Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and pepper for at least 1 hour.
- Grill or cook the chicken in a skillet over medium heat until cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill or in a skillet.
- Assemble the gyros by placing sliced chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and tzatziki sauce in each pita.
- Wrap the pita and serve immediately.
Notes
- Feel free to add other toppings like feta cheese or olives.
- For a spicier version, add sliced jalapeños.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
