- 2 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 1/2 cup tahini sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, yogurt, garlic, and spices to create the marinade.
- Add chicken to the marinade and coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side until fully cooked.
- Remove chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the chicken into thin strips.
- Warm the pita bread on the grill for a minute.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and tahini sauce in the pita.
- Wrap the pita and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken thighs with chicken fillets if preferred.
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- Serve with pickles for extra flavor.
