Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 4 pounds)
- 8 cups water
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup egg noodles (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Place the chicken in a large pot and add water.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour.
- Remove chicken, let cool, and shred the meat.
- Return shredded chicken to the pot.
- If using egg noodles, add them and cook until tender.
- Remove bay leaf and garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth.
- You can add other vegetables like peas or corn.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
