- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery sticks, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup milk
- 50g butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook until softened.
- Add minced beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add peas and season with salt and pepper. Pour mixture into a baking dish.
- Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter.
- Spread mashed potatoes over the meat mixture.
- Prepare chips by tossing potato pieces in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
- Bake chips and pie for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- You can substitute minced beef with lamb or turkey.
- Add other vegetables like corn or green beans as desired.
