Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery sticks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup milk
  • 50g butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large pan, heat some oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and celery. Cook until softened.
  3. Add minced beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add peas and season with salt and pepper. Pour mixture into a baking dish.
  6. Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter.
  7. Spread mashed potatoes over the meat mixture.
  8. Prepare chips by tossing potato pieces in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake chips and pie for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • You can substitute minced beef with lamb or turkey.
  • Add other vegetables like corn or green beans as desired.
