- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Soak chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- In a bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat each piece in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully add chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches.
- Fry for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove chicken and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Use a thermometer to check chicken doneness (internal temperature should be 165°F).
- Let chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
