Ingredients

- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 onion, sliced
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Combine chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, and peppercorns in a bowl. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add marinated chicken, including marinade, to the pot.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and cook for another 10 minutes or until sauce thickens.
- Season with salt to taste before serving.
Notes
- Serve with steamed rice.
- You can add potatoes or hard-boiled eggs for variation.
- Adjust vinegar and soy sauce according to taste.
