Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 1/4 cup water (for caramel)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and blend until crumbly.
  3. Add egg yolk and cold water. Mix until dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough and fit it into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Let it cool.
  6. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water for caramel. Cook until it turns amber.
  7. Remove from heat and carefully add cream. Stir until smooth.
  8. Pour caramel into the cooled tart shell.
  9. Melt chocolate chips and pour over the caramel.
  10. Sprinkle sea salt on top. Chill until set.
